Fill in the Blank Friday

1. If my house was on fire and I could only grab 3 things I would grab Norman, purse, wedding photos.

2. A smell I really like is leather. I freakin' love the smell of leather.

3. Something you might not know about me is I miss Nashvegas. Nah, you probably knew that. Umm...I HATE driving next to semis. I speed up when I'm near them.

4. Some of my favorite websites to putter about on are The Pioneer Woman, People, US Weekly

5. This weekend I will celebrate my brother-in-law's 23 birthday. I remember when I was 23...that was 4 years ago. Yikes!

6. Nothing makes me happier than watching Nate laugh. His laugh cracks me up. And when he really gets to laughing, he goes silent. It's hilarious.

7. A bad habit I have is cussing. I use it for emphasis. Dammit.

There are like a million people linking up and filling in these damn blanks. You need to do it too! Head over to the little things we do.

Stupid Bloggerr

I haven't been able to blog in like 2 wks. I know you've missed me. Stupid Blogger had an error every time I tried to post. I don't know how, but I fixed it.

Now I have nothing to say.

Confession

I'm ready for spring.

Mississippi Burning

I'm finishing up the movie Mississippi Burning. The movie came out in 1988, so I'm a little late watching it. But I was 4. I didn't watch anything by Donna Reed reruns and Strawberry Shortcake.

Mississippi Burning is about the murders of 3 civil rights activists (2 white, 1 black) in Philadelphia, Mississippi in 1964. It's a town of 7,000 folks. It was covered up by the local law, and then the FBI got involved. Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe (Nate calls him Bell, Biv, Devoe). It's a very intense movie. Lots of killing. Lots of white people doing what they did back then to black people. It's sickening. It's just plain messed up.

In the end, justice somewhat prevails. Some of the folks went to prison. None went for more than 10 years. And that's for killing 3 innocent people. Sick, sick, sick

For some reason, I'm a bit obsessed with the south. Mostly the history of it all. Racism is a part of the history of the deep south. Shoot, the KKK was formed down the road from where we lived in Tennessee. It was formed in Pulaski, TN.

The murders in Philadelphia, MS were in 1964. According to my calculations, that was 37 years ago. That wasn't THAT long ago. That's just crazy to me. My parents went to segregated schools. I can't remember what grade my mom was in when black kids started going to her school. And even Native Americans. They had their own school in my town.

I don't understand racism. I just don't get it. How could you possibly hate someone so much? Could you imagine the ugly attitudes that people walked around with back then? As if we were better than anyone else? That's messed up, man.

On the same note, I read a book last summer by Kathryn Stockett called The Help.

The Help

GREAT book. I didn't want it to end. It's set in Jackson, MS in the mid 1960's. It's about a rich, white girl who wants to be a journalist. So she starts interviewing the help around town, meaning the black folk to wait on the white folk (maids and such), and getting the dirt on their jobs. It was a very touchy subject back then. The journalist could've been killed if she would've been seen talking to the help in such a manner. Great, great book. Since it was set in the mid 60's, my calculations tell me that it wasn't all that long ago. Folks are still around that were all sorts of racist back then.

Racism. I just don't get it.

I'm so glad I wasn't around back then.

Have any of y'all seen Mississippi Burning or read The Help?

So What Wednesday

Photobucket

SO WHAT if...

-I haven't blogged in a week. Don't judge. (Katy)
-I bought Reetone running shoes last week. And I love them. My calves and butt have been sore since getting them. Reetones are the new Uggs.
-Kate Hudson is pregnant. Natalie Portman is pregnant. Victoria Beckham Am I the only person not pregnant?
-I don't want it to snow. I'm not teaching anymore so I don't get snow days. Snow-you are dead to me.
-That sounded mean. But seriously snow, you're dead to me.
-I know who wins The Bachelor. Not sure how I feel about it. I heart Emily.

-I'll tell you now that this chica is not chosen. My theory is that she will either become the new bachelorette, or she'll start dating Chris from Ali's season.

He seems so nice.

What are you saying SO WHAT to? Head over to Mama Dew's blog and preach on.

So What Wednesday

Photobucket

This week I'm saying SO WHAT to...

-I'm doing a Wednesday blog on Thursday. So what? Who cares?
-We close on our house today!!!!
-My 27th bday is tomorrow. Nate Dawg and I get to spend the day waiting on movers and folks to set up the satellite. Then we get to unpack our entire house. Not the way I thought I'd spend my bday.
-I woke up with a nice sized pimple on the side of my nose. Dang it.
-I'm going to pick up some of these shoes today:

Laugh all you want. But Reetones are where it's at! I feel like it's cheating. But tanning is also cheating, because it makes you look more toned. So...judge all you want.

Ok that's all. You can head over to Mama Dew's page and check out everyone else who did theirs on time.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

-I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before (that's me being sarcastic), but I am so, so, so ready to be in our house.
-I want our king size pillow top mattress instead of the full size bed where we currently sleep.
-I'm ready for my size coffee cups instead of these itty bitty things:

I take one gulp and it's all gone. All gone!
-I'm ready to hang more than 5 shirts in the closet because I'm sharing that small space with Nate Dawg. And since he works a job where they really care what he wears, he gets to hang up his nicely dry cleaned clothes.
-I'm ready to let Norman out the back door, instead of walking him outside to pee every morning when it's 18 degrees.
-On another note, I'm not really doing a New Year Resolution. I mentioned that here. BUT, I did say I would try to blog 3x/week. I'm also going to run a minimum of 20 miles/week. I used to be able to run 10-12 miles at a time, no problemo. I've gotten away from running for whatever reason. I ran 4.62 miles yesterday and it felt sooo good. My legs are killing me today because I ran a few miles at a 7% incline. (You burn more calories when you run at an incline). Only 15.38 miles left to run this week!
-I got my hair done Friday. The lady I went to is so fun! I put some red in with the blonde. I wanted to add some sass. Mama like.
-We met some friends for dinner in Owasso on NYE. Then went back to their house where Nate Dawg and I had water. Neither of us were feeling like drinking at all. Then we went back to his parents' house. His dad was gone, so we were hanging out with his mom and his brother and his brother's gf. Good times.
-I was asleep before midnight on NYE.
-I was asleep at 8:30 the next day. DURING the Fiesta Bowl. DURING OU's win. I was so tired.
-OU won! Yay!
-Oklahoma State and TU won their bowl games!
-Oklahoma boys know how to play some football!
-I firmly believe in the saying, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

Ok that's all. Head over to Carissa's blog and play along.
