A Few Things

1. I big fluffy pink heart Blake Shelton.

Why?

He lives in Oklahoma. He's like 7 feet tall. I follow him on twitter and he makes me laugh.

2. I still haven't taken pics of anything from my shower because our upstairs air conditioner is not working. I took everything to the baby's room (Nate Dawg will not say the work "nursery"). It is one million degrees up there and I refuse to walk up the stairs until the air conditioner is fixed. The guys finally came 2 days ago to fix it and it's not fixed. They're coming back today. I'm gonna walk outside all big and pregnant and tell them it needs to be fixed because they're just hurting the baby. They better fix it this time.

3. I love my job.

4. I'm almost 30 weeks pregnant and officially uncomfortable. I'm hot. I get full really easily. I'm front heavy. I feel like my belly is some accessory that I can't do anything with.

Over the next 10 weeks my belly will get muuuuch bigger and I will be muuuuuuuuch more uncomfortable.

My complaining is over.

It could be worse, right?

Funniest Christmas Cards...EVER!

Goodness gracious people. I started this last week and never finished it. So I'm posting as is. That way I can add this to my New Year's Resolution of blogging at least 3 times/week.

Hey, did y'all know Christmas is in a few days?

I thought I would help y'all get in the holiday spirit. My friend Mallory send me this website. She actually knows the guy. This is what Mal said about it, "These are funny and REAL Christmas cards sent by OU Alum Kenny Shore.  He tries to top himself every year.  Kenny is a friend of my dad's and very funny. He has been sending out cards for almost 20 years. My family gets very excited every year in anticipation of the card."

Without further adieu, I give you my favorites of The Shore Christmas Cards

1991

Every other Christmas card I got back then from my friends featured a handsome fella, his pretty blonde wife and their adorable kids all decked out in holiday sweaters sitting in front of their fireplace, golden retriever at their side.

I couldn’t relate.

So I decided to show ‘em how Christmas was celebrated at Ken Shore’s house, by God. I emptied out a few bottles that just happened to be laying around and created a typical night there at 1218 Barnard Drive.

I had no idea what I’d started.

People had already started asking about a follow-up to the “Fifth” night of Christmas card. There was a tattoo parlor about a block from my office downtown. Who knows where the inspiration came from for this one.

My art director/partner Bill Verrill did the painting on my arm. Then we headed over to Las Vegas Tattoo Parlor where this guy “Doc” was cool enough to play along. Bill snapped the shot here.

Most people think I’m responsible for the twisted ideas behind these cards. And up to this year, they would have been right. But my sweet-as-pie, Catholic-as-the-Pope wife came up with this one. “Here’s what I’m thinking,” she said to me one night in late November. “The card has you and your friends all watching a stripper in our house. Then I come in unexpectedly early from an evening of Christmas shopping and surprise you all.” If the first words out of my mouth that very second weren’t, “Woman, I love you!” they should have been.

Once again, Wes came through on this one, providing the photography, the lighting and the stripper.

For some reason, the thing came together so fast that I wound up calling everyone at the last minute. Ordinarily, I couldn’t have gotten these guys to help me do anything more than, maybe, drain a bottle of whiskey. But when I explained what I needed help with (staring at a naked woman in my living room with my wife’s blessing) they all showed up without hesitation, no matter what they already had going on that night. Mike Lawrence (second row, showing titty of his own) for instance, had just had his wisdom teeth pulled that very day. He shows up, pain and all. Chris Weir (second row, blue sweater, white boa) was celebrating his birthday that day. He told his wife that birthday dinner plans had changed. Similarly, Jesse Leeds (front row, cigar in hand) had a babysitter that night and he and his wife were going to have the first quiet romantic dinner out together since the kids were born. “Sorry, baby, my man Ken needs me.” Jim Snyder (front row, red bow, dollar in mouth) even brought his wife along. As for Bill George (front row center…best seat in the house) and Tom Hawley (back row, hiding his boner), when I called each of them on the phone, I think they appeared at my front door before I even got the word “stripper” out of my mouth.

On a tragic note, take a look at where everyone is looking. All my boys (and even my wife) get to stare at the stripper’s bare chest. Who’s the only person in the room who doesn’t get to feast eyes on the boobs? Pity. I heard they were fantastic.

Dead Bird

It's supposed to be 75 degrees in Thompsons Station today. WHAT!?! I love 75 degrees. It just may be my favorite temperature.

So I started opening windows and what not. I opened the front door and found this:

Yes, those are my legs and feet in the reflection. Those socks are hot, right?
Yup, that's a dead bird. Our backyard is Bird Highway, and our front yard is pretty much the access road to Bird Highway. I imagine that poor birdie flew smack into our front door.

Norman is a bird dog. He can actually catch them out of the air. Impressive. But he likes to eat them. I never taught him how to hunt bc I didn't want my Papa and Uncles to take advantage of my bird dog and make him go hunting.  Norman is a lover, not a fighter.

Norman kind of has his own version of Angry Birds going.

So he's all upset with me that I won't let him go out and get the bird.

Have you ever had a dog give you a dirty look and stomp his paws?
Adorable.

7 things about me:

2. I'm moving. All the way from Tennessee to Oklahoma. But it's ok because I'm from Oklahoma.

3. I really like my brother-in-law's girlfriend. I met her about a month ago, briefly. I met her again yesterday and I just love her!

4. I love vitamin water. There, I said it.

Bleh

Do you know what I love? Finding out when you're on your fall break that you might not be able to return to your job. NOT!

My school district is 90 late on passing the fiscal budget for this school year. They're saying that our paychecks this Friday will bounce and that schools will be closed as early as Monday.

Not sure if this is definite or what. The school board had an emergency meeting tonight and the budget was voted down AGAIN. All of the Nashville news stations are covering it.

I wonder what parents have to say about this.

This is a weird feeling.

Oops, My Bad

So it's been a little while since I've been on here.

I'll recap eventually.

Until then, enjoy this super cute pic of Nate Dawg and myself. Don't we look like we're in the mafia?

Here's one of us with Nate Dawg's parental units.

Happy Monday!

Tuesday Tag Along

Tuesday Tag-Along

I just joined this Tuesday Tag Along. It's a way to get extra followers. Not sure anyone actually wants to follow me, but with this little game, they have to. muhahaha

On another note-I need to get a spray tan. The last time I got one, I actually worked at a tanning salon. We have this wedding Thursday and I am suuuper pale. I found a coupon for a Magic Tan. That was the kind that was at Tan and Tone. "Tan and Tone America, home of the mist on Magic Tan, this is Morgan, how may I help you?" Lots of m's.

I think I'll go tomorrow and get it done. You can't shower for 6 hours afterwards, so I'll stink bad, but it'll be worth it.

Also, I keep turning off my phone alarm. I woke up at 8:48 this morning and missed my 8:30 workout class. Oops. But I love fall break. Hopefully Katie wasn't going to meet me there. But if you want to meet me there Katie, I will totally set another alarm and put it across the room so I'll actually wake up. For you I will.

Remember that song?

Also, I can't find my phone at the moment. Sometimes when I turn off my alarm, I throw my phone. I'm usually dreaming about a bomb or something like that when I throw it. I need to check on that.

My bff Brandi dropped off her daughter Cailyn at daycare for the first time yesterday. She was a bit upset, to say the least. BUT-Cailyn did great, Brandi did great, I didn't hear how Steve did, but I'm sure he did great as well.

I refuse to turn my heater on. It's supposed to be 80 degrees on Friday. It's 61 in my house right now. I am currently wearing Nate Dawg's sweatshirt, yoga pants, socks, and a blanket. I'm stubborn. Very stubborn.

Now I have a dog in my lap, I think I'll be ok.

I'm Feelin' Lucky

If I was a bettin' woman, I would put $100 on red.

At 3pm Friday, my 2 week fall break started. Yes, 2 whole weeks off. We started school at the end of July. Our schedule is 9 weeks on, 2 weeks off. When we start so early, I tend to rethink this schedule. Then when the 2 week break comes, I know it was all worth it! We get a 2 week Spring Break too. And we still get out at the end of May.
Best. Schedule. Ever.

When I walked into my Hip Hop class Saturday morning at the gym, this lady gave me a ticket. Apparently they were giving away door prizes. She called a number and some asian lady won something. Then they called another number and it was mine! I won a Starbucks gift card!

While I was getting my groove on in my Hip Hop class, I missed a call from the people that schedule showings at the house. I call them back after class, they tell me they want to schedule not 1, but 2 showings for Saturday afternoon!

OU beat Texas! 28-20. And we got lucky on quite a few plays. We tend to screw up in the 4th quarter and this game was no different. After we screwed up, Texas would screw up, so we were meant to win this game!!!

I am a lucky, lucky gal.

Adrian Peterson showed up. I love him. I would have his babies. Wait, what?

How cute is Bob's wife, Carol? She's the blonde. Super cute!

We'll try this again...

People keep asking me why I don't blog. I tried once. See above post. That was a while ago.

On another note, there was a bomb threat at the HS next to the school where I teach. So all 2,000 students from the HS came to the middle school for most of the afternoon. We have about 1,100 students at the middle school. It was nuts. I teach a pretty severe Special Education Class, and we had at least 35 students in the room, all severe. It was a tough day. At one point we had about 50 people in my room, including, but not limited to: students, teachers, assistants, peer tutors, random people...and we're used to 15 at the most. Just another manic Monday?

What they thought was a bomb, was actually some PVC pipe filled with sand. But the bomb squad was called in, then students texted parents, parents came and were crazy rude. I understand they were stressed, but if their children had been following the rules and wouldn't have had their cell phones w/them, they wouldn't have been worried so much bc teenagers tend to exaggerate. Duh.

Last random thing for the moment: How does my dog always lay his head on a pillow? He's a funny, funny dog, as evidenced by the pics below:

Awww...Norman! Isn't he precious???
